Knowing that we need to put our house up on the market in several months we decided to thin things out around here and have a yard sale. We had the kids go through their things and decide what they wanted to get rid of. We told them they would get the money for the things they sold. They were so excited and cleaned things out rather aggressively. They had pretend yard sales for days before and had a hard time going to sleep the night before. The first hour of the sale no one came and Jason and I got nervous that the kids would be let down. It picked up and we did pretty well. For family night we gave the kids there money and taught them about tithing. We finished it by taking them shopping so they could spend a little bit of their money. Britannia felt like a queen after she found out everything in the store only cost $1. She was determined to by the store out. Shayla found a little doll and that was all she wanted she didn't even want to look at anything else. David just looked at a million things then threw them on the floor. It was fun to see their personalities come out. When they checked out the girls were excited to have their own bags and receipts. Britannia said, "I've never had my own receipt before!"
We had a fun time making sugar cookies together as a family to take around to some of our neighbors. I don't really enjoy making these due to my small kitchen and the mess they create, but the kids sure had a good time.

I am sorry I missed your yard sale.
Wow,
Have you been a busy poster or what? Way to go, it's so fun to read all the things you guys do together. I love the pictures of Tanni in her uniform and the updates on each of the kids. I love the little things you remember to write about each of them. Great idea to let the kids keep the money they make and to teach them about tithing when they actually have some money to do it with! You are amazing!
